The Top 10 Robin William Movies

On August 11, 2014, one of the most respected and seasoned actors in Hollywood passed away. Robin Williams was always known for his humorous antics and lighthearted acting style, but also showed extreme talent in more serious roles. Not only was he an actor, but also a kind and loving man, raising and donating over 80 million dollars for causes in medicine, literacy, and women's rights.

However, due to the unfortunate circumstances of his death, Robin would have liked us to remember him as he was in his movies; I present to you, the top 10 list of the best of Robin Williams.

10. Jumanji

A classic film that depicts Robin as a man who was trapped in an arcane board game: when two kids play the game, they not only release him, but centuries of dangers that they must now face.

9. The Fisher King

One of the lesser known movies, this movie depicts a tale of drama and redemption: with Robins playing a deluded homeless man assisting a suicidal disk jockey, the two must work together to save the latter.

8. Insomnia

In the land of the midnight sun, Robin Williams is cast alongside Al Pacino in one of the best thrillers made to date. The two share an amazing synergy on screen, as the case of a murdered 17 year old deepens.

7. Awakenings

Based on a true story, Robin plays the role of Oliver Sacks, a neurosurgeon who discovered the usage of L-Dopa on coma patients. After an initial success of the drugs, the patients begin to return to their catatonic states: a humbling tale of appreciating even the smallest things in life.

6. Mrs. Doubtfire

Perhaps one of the most celebrated comedies ever created, this film depicts Robin dressing up as a housewife after his divorce: leading to antics that people of all ages will love. A classic family film!

5. Good Morning, Vietnam

In the thick of the Vietnam War, Robin plays a Radio DJ whose uplifting comedy is able to inspire and raise the spirits of the troops. One of the Robin's most inspiring films, it won a Golden Globes as well resulted in a nomination of Best Actor.

4. Good Will Hunting

Playing a professor that recognizes the genius in a young man, Robin offers one of his most heartfelt portrayals yet. This movie demonstrates that even the most unlikely people sometimes just need a push to get headed in the right direction.

3. Hook

An instant classic, this film casts Robin as a grown-up Peter Pan, who must now defend his Lost Boys from Captain Hook once again. This comedic and fast-paced movie has been a staple of family movie night for years.

2. Aladdin

One of the original Disney films, William's portrayal of the comedic yet all powerful genie brings a smile to your face. Though animated, his beaming attitude and happiness are projected through the screen, brightening anyone's day.

1. Dead Poets Society

I consider to be the best Robin movie ever; if not one of the best films ever made. Playing a professor who tries to inspire his stuffy students through his love of poetry, this inspirational film ultimately can not be described in words; you have to watch it to truly experience it.

In the end, Robin Williams will live on in all of our hearts through all the filmography he has done; he was a truly amazing man.
